For Dr. Franklin Awah, a commitment to service and care for others started at a young age. While assisting elderly neighbors in his community and performing volunteer work with his church, Dr. Awah recognized the importance of good healthcare on a person’s quality of life. This led to a decision to pursue a career in dentistry at the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC) where it highlighted for him how important communication and compassion are when building trust with patients.

Following dental school, Dr. Awah completed an intense 6-year training program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), during which time he also completed the requirements to earn his medical degree (MD). This advanced training provided Dr. Awah with a superior understanding of the face and jaw and extensive training in dental anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, and dental implants. As a testament to his skills, Dr. Awah was awarded the designation of board-certified Oral Surgeon by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a distinction that ensures adherence to the highest standard of care.

Whether lecturing to a group of his colleagues or one on one in patient consultation, Dr. Awah brings a passion for teaching and cutting-edge care. As a patient, he believes education and understanding your options are essential as partners on the path to regaining your confidence and smile. Outside of work, Dr. Awah enjoys travel, outdoor activities, and rooting on the Dallas Mavericks. He is excited to serve the Mansfield and DFW community in their oral surgery needs.
